Quiz: Could You Be a Dissonance Walker? (Plus: A Giveaway!)

When I was contacted to participate in the Excerpt Tour for Dissonance, I also discussed doing one of my little fun+games posts as part of the tour, and they approved! So today I bring you a quiz that I hope should be accessible for anyone and everyone, even if you haven’t read the book, and even if this is your first time learning about the book. So take the quiz and see if you could make it as part of Delancy’s Walker crew!

First, a little bit about the book:

Delancy Sullivan has always known there’s more to reality than what people see. Every time someone makes a choice, a new, parallel world branches off from the existing one. Eating breakfast or skipping it, turning left instead of right, sneaking out instead of staying in bed ~ all of these choices create an alternate universe in which an echo self takes the road not travelled and makes the opposite decision. As a Walker, someone who can navigate between these worlds, Del’s job is to keep all of the dimensions in harmony.

Normally, Del can hear the dissonant frequency that each world emits as clear as a bell. But when a training session in an off-key world goes horribly wrong, she is forbidden from Walking by the Council. But Del’s not big on following the rules and she secretly starts to investigate these other worlds. Something strange is connecting them and it’s not just her random encounters with echo versions of the guy she likes, Simon Lane.

But Del’s decisions have unimaginable consequences and, as she begins to fall for the Echo Simons in each world, she draws closer to a truth that the Council of Walkers is trying to hide ~ a secret that threatens the fate of the entire multiverse.

And now… the QUIZ!

Could You Be a Dissonance Walker?

In Delancy Sullivan’s life, each choice a person makes creates a pivot into an alternate dimension — an Echo. Delancy and her family are known as Walkers; people who can traverse the veils between the Key World and the Echoes, fixing issues that might arise, and striving to maintain the structure and harmony of the Key World. This quiz will help determine your viability as a potential Walker.

All of the answers can be found and discerned from the book synopsis and/or the excerpt posted on the blog tour last week.

  1. Heck yeah! I didn’t read the synopsis before taking the quiz or anything, and I haven’t read the book! I’M JUST AMAZING! (Okay, well, that matching one I only did well with because the other questions sort of told me the answers. But still. GO ME!)

  2. Haha, this was really fun! Kelley, YOU are the quiz master! Seriously, all your quizzes are fabulous! And I had a lot of fun with this even though I didn’t really read the excerpts carefully. Everything just made a lot of sense and I could see the world piece together so I’m definitely super excited to read this book now! I like how the author kinda plays upon this common theory (I think it’s common because I’ve heard it before?) about parallel universes with every single choice. I don’t know, is it called the string theory? Where every single time you make a decision, there can be so many different possibilities that branch out and continue to branch out and then so on, so on. Anyway, Dissonance sounds really interesting and this was a lot of fun! :)

    • Awww, thanks Annie! I’m so happy that people enjoy my quizzes! :D I love that people are doing so well on this quiz for not even having read the book (and/or synopsis/excerpt!). I think that shows how well the world-building was done for this book (and perhaps that I’m pretty darn tootin’ good at making quizzes that make sense? :P).

Yes, it’s string theory, and I also really enjoy her interpretation of it! It sounds like you would really enjoy Dissonance, so I hope you get to read it soon. :)

  4. Gosh, Kelley, you just come up with the most interesting and cool quizzes! I’M JEALOUS OF YOUR CREATIVITY. I’ll have to give this one a go after I’m done with my commenting rounds. I think you’d be happy to know that this has gotten me even more excited for Dissonance! :D

  5. I didn’t too well, but I haven’t read the book so obviously it was new to me! However, the one where you had to match everything up I actually got all correct! I think largely thanks to the previous questions/answers. I always love your quizzes, Kelley!
