Our Lives This Week

In Asti’s Life…

First off, I just want to say thank you to everyone who commented and/or emailed me after reading my last personal update. Your patience and acceptance of my situation does help in relieving some of my negative feelings. It’s comforting to know that I can take a break or pull back when needed and that you’ll still accept me. I think that’s always one of the hardest parts about depression – you feel like, in many ways, that no one truly gets what you’re going through and that it’s pointless to reach out. But sometimes it’s worth it just to say something. No, those people can’t provide you with an easy fix (if there were one, you would’ve already figured it out), but they can confirm that your frustrations and feelings are justified and that you still deserve love even when you’re feeling a bit crazy. So thank you, again, to all who commented. Sometimes just having other people agree that life can suck makes all the difference.

And, to add some brightness, things are somewhat looking up for me. I’m halfway to my first weight lost goal (15lbs down, 15lbs to go until my pre-UK weight) and it looks like I may have a job. It’s not necessarily the job I was hoping for when I moved back to the States, but it’s a job I know I work well in and it’d definitely be nice to have an income again. I just need to get through an interview this Tuesday, and then things should hopefully be good to go.

So, as much as I was down last week and feeling pretty hopeless about my future, I find that there’s a little spark of optimism in my heart this week. I miss Dave and I still wish life didn’t have to be such a pain in the butt sometimes, but I’m doing my best to not let that stop me by taking each day as it comes and recognizing my successes, no matter how big or small.

In Kelley’s Life…

Don’t worry — I won’t be regaling you with any more gross insect stories (although there have been a ton of snails (LARGE ones) on my door lately, which is WEIRD). Really, I should be telling you about all of the great book events I’ve gone to lately! But I’ve been really bad about documenting anything with photos, which makes this all much less exciting. I did get a few ideas for new discussion posts, though, which is excellent.

Okay, look, I’m boring and I’m just rambling, so just forget about me, go read Asti’s personal bit again, and show her how much we all love her.

OH, WAIT. Wait, wait, wait…

Very Important Announcement…inside the spoiler tag below, because it’s a SECRET.

I am trying my best to get an ARC of THE REST OF US JUST LIVE HERE by Patrick Ness, because my BFF’s birthday is coming up in May, and it’s about the only plausible gift I could give her that would be awesome enough (aside from working miracles). I have put in a couple of requests here and there, but if anyone knows how I could get my hands on one, PLEASE get in touch with me on twitter or email.

THANK YOU!
