Our Lives This Week

In Asti’s Life…

Well, hello 2015, you evil, evil year that I want nothing to do with.

I don’t know about the rest of you crazy kids, but I welcomed 2015 by sleeping right through it. I had plans on staying up, I did, but it wasn’t meant to be. I really am just an old, tired adult who can’t be bothered these days, especially when so many things are currently blowing up in my life.

I did start my personal blog, Oh, Asti!, this week and I have to admit I’m really optimistic about it. I’m hoping it’ll be a therapeutic outlet for me this year, that it will help me work my way through this difficult time in my life as journaling did during my last major bout of depression. I will warn anyone who is thinking about checking it out: it is completely up close and personal. While here I try to be an upbeat and positive person, there I am going to let all of my sides show. It’s still going to be somewhat filtered, as it is public and I don’t want it causing problems in my life, but it’s going to be as real as I can let it be. You’ve been warned.

So yes, let’s hope 2015 surpasses all expectations and is a better year than expected. Happy New Year.

In Kelley’s Life…

10731685_677687899016854_721998986_nThis week was long and kinda weird. We didn’t get home from visiting the in-laws until Tuesday, so the beginning of my week was spent hanging out with them, eating food and playing with cats and learning how to use my husband’s new GoPro! We had a really great visit with them, but it was also really nice to finally get home again… and my cat had a few things to say about our long absence. It even took Squeakers a few days to believe that I’d actually come back home! I missed the outside kitties!

10914437_703817106404675_2089992636_nThe next few days were spent catching up on everything I didn’t get to do while I was away from home and computers and internet. Well, I was TRYING to catch up on those things, but all my cat would let me do was sit on the couch and pet her. Arrrgh. I went in to work on Friday, which was kind of weird, but I found a little pile of presents on my desk, so that was lovely. I’m still freaking out a bit about it being 2015 and all of the big changes headed my way this year, but… I’m trying not to let it stress me out too much. Deep breaths, Kelley… deep breaths…

So, how was your week?

  1. I hope you enjoy your personal blog Asti! It sounds like a fantastic way to chronicle life, especially since it passes by so quickly. Hopefully it’ll be a great and supporting platform for you. And oh new years, does it count if I slept from 3am until noon. Best sleep of my life.

I tried to use the rest days to catch up on things as well Kelley! But alas, it was not meant to be. Actually, I don’t remember if I did anything, to be honest o_O Way to be productive hahaha

I hope the new year treats you both well. SEIZE THE DAY!!! WHOOP WHOPP (sorry, I always lose it a bit when it gets past midnight)

  2. Really hope this year looks up for you both, and don’t feel bogged down by the amount of link-ups, there was plenty here to keep me entertained for a while, so be pleased. Mainly, I’d been getting this ready for BBB which opened today and winding down before starting a placement tomorrow which is nervy but I’m excited! Have a wonderful week girls :)

  3. Good on you for starting a personal blog, Asti! I’m planning on starting a journal this year and sticking with it for the same reason to just have a place to speak out and get things off my chest and hopefully feel a little lighter this year!

Thanks again you guys for the WONDERFUL collection of links! I’m probably going to spend the rest of my day going through these…

    Happy 2015!

    • Thanks Annie! I hope the journaling thing works for you too! I actually wish I was better with the physical journal thing because I think there’s an extra sense of intimacy that comes with an actual physical book, like it’s more exciting to look back on because you can see your handwriting and doodles and whatnot, but I just can never seem to stick with them! I feel like having it online works a little better for me because a) I’m so used to writing online these days and b) it makes me feel a little more accountable. We’ll see what happens though :)

      Happy 2015!

  4. @Asti I always try to be somewhat upbeat and positive on my blog, but it can be tiring sometimes, so I can imagine why you want a palce were you can also show the darker and bad things sometimes. I did stay awake on New Year’s Eve, but I went to bed after the wordt of the fireworks had passed as I had a massive headache. Will check out your personal blog next!

@ Kelley, I am glad I got to stay home these holidays as it always feels like you’re behind when you’re gone for a long while.

It seems a bit of a slow week again with discussion posts, I hope next week thing will be back to normal.

    • Yuck, it’s not fun staying up and hearing all those fireworks when you have a massive headache! Hope you’re feeling better now!

And yes, I’m sure things will be back to normal this week re: discussion posts. Though I am worried if my accidentally deleting my Feedly account will impact the amount I actually find and link to. We’ll see!

  5. @Asti, I wish I could have slept right through the New Year. I was so tired that day and couldn’t go to sleep until 3am because my neighbors were playing with fireworks and it was so LOUD. *sigh* Congrats on your personal blog! I’d love to do one, but I’m terribly bad when it comes to writing about myself.

@Kelley, I’m doing the same as you! I’ve been trying to catch up on things I’ve left behind or whatnot.

Thanks so much for mentioning my blog here, and I’ve got to say I discovered a lot of great discussion posts!

    • Ugh, yes, fireworks! I was actually quite thankful that I slept through all of that, though my boyfriend’s Dad did complain that he was woken up by fireworks. I guess it is one of those things that even when you WANT to sleep you may not be able to because people go crazy being loud and rambunctious on New Year’s. Hopefully you’ve been able to rest up since!

I don’t think there’s anything wrong about not being good writing about yourself! Sometimes I wonder if there’s something bad about me since I find it so easy to do. Like does it make me super self-centered? >.< I have no idea, but I think it's helping me and that's all I care about right now. :P Glad we're able to help you find great discussion posts! And you're welcome for linking to yours! Have an amazing 2015 :)

  6. I know what you mean Kelley, my mother-in-law was with us for a couple of weeks and then we went to NYC and Philly to visit a lot more in-laws. It was fun, but extremely tiring! I’m glad I took last week off from blogging and now I’m playing catch up as well.

Asti, I hope that 2015 ends up being a great year for you. Chin up and smile on :)
